New South Wales will be introducing a new screening process for registered NDIS service providers.
The NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) will be mandatory for staff delivering services in risk assessed roles and will apply for new staff starting after the introduction date in February.
Existing holders of current screening checks such as the National Police Check or the Working with Children Check will be required to complete the new screening as these expire or if they begin a role with a new employer.
In certain circumstances, a new employee may begin work prior to the outcome of the new NDISWC screening.
The NDISWC carries an administration fee for employed staff but will be free for volunteers.
